IMC Continues to Expand - Hires Exec for Business Development
IMC is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Purcell, AIA, CCM, LEED AP to its staff. As Director of Business Development, Purcell will use his experience and expertise in the Mid-Atlantic construction
market to expand IMC’s business both regionally and nationally. His role with the company includes developing long-term client relations, strategic business planning, and coordinating marketing efforts. He was most recently Director of Business Development and Marketing at Nason Construction and before that a Senior Associate at Heery International, a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty.
“IMC’s continued success allows us to hire the area’s top talent and we know that Mark’s experience and industry knowledge will benefit both current and prospective clients,” said Robert Cottone, CEO/President. “His background will allow us to better identify and meet the needs of our customers, while helping our business grow.”
Purcell is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and brings more than 20 years of experience in the design and construction industry as a registered architect, certified construction manager, and LEED accredited professional. He specializes in multi-million dollar construction projects for corporate, education, healthcare and government clients with a focus on integrating sustainable design concepts into building programs.
Purcell is co-founder and Past President of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council and is an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University where he teaches construction law. He is a 2011 Fellow of LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and is active in various community and professional associations including the American Institute of Architects and Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia.
IMC Receives Corporate Social Investment Award
The Chester County Community Foundation has awarded IMC the Corporate
Social Investment Award. This award is conferred upon company's who demonstrate sound principles of business leadership and help the community by consistently supporting local charities.
Rob Cottone, IMC's President /CEO accepted the award at the Legacy Awards Celebration on October 27th in West Chester, PA.
The Chester County Community Foundation was founded in 1994 and builds community assets for perpetuity. The Foundation primarily holds endowed funds in trust and uses the income f

Bryn Mawr Medical Art Pavilion Breaks Ground
IMC Construction and Moreland Development mark the start of construction on the Bryn Mawr Medical Arts Pavilion, a physician-owned building on the campus
of Bryn Mawr Hospital.
IMC Construction has been contracted to furnish Construction Management Services for construction of the new medical arts pavilion that will connect to Bryn Mawr Hospital via a pedestrian walkway over Lancaster Avenue. The 100 percent leased, 141,000 square-foot building is expected to be complete during the summer of 2012 and will provide office space for the Bryn Mawr Medical Specialist; a limited partnership of various medical practices.

Grand Opening of Center for Innovation and Learning
MC Construction joined Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, PA to celebrating the grand opening of their new Penn Medicine Center for Innovation and Learning.
This 28,000-square-foot facility is the new home for Penn Medicine Academy (PMA) and Nursing Professional Development and Innovation. The fast track
project encompassed the entire 9th floor of Penn Center west at 1500 Market Street and was completed by IMC Construction in just four months. The Center serves as a comprehensive conference center with computer labs, classrooms, video production studios and remote control recording capability in learning labs. With advanced technologies and programs, the center is designed to develop new methods of care and services for Penn Medicine’s patients and their families. IMC Named Most Philanthropic in the Delaware Valley
Well rounded philanthropy has earned IMC the Community Impact Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal. The Community Impact Award is a capstone honor that recognizes organizations for their overall generosity of volunteer hours, monetary donations, and in-kind contributions. “It is an honor to be recognized for
the collective efforts and contribution of IMC and its employees,” says Robert Cottone, President/CEO. “Giving back to the community is something I’ve always believed is our responsibility, and is a principle at the heart of IMC’s culture."

IMC Breaks ground on Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse

Penn Medicine and IMC Construction mark the start of another project during a ceremonial groundbreaking at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse. The project includes converting the first floor into space for the user group, Physical Medicine Rehabilitation. This 11,000 square foot suite will consist of Clinical Exam space, Faculty and Administrative Offices along with support services.
The former Radiology Suite will be converted into 15,000 square foot area outpatient Rehabilitation Suite for Good Shepherd Penn Partners. The suite will consist of Physical Therapy and Gym space for Ortho and Neuro patients, Clinical Exam space, Treatment rooms, and Administrative spaces with support services. The renovations also include additional fit-out area for future tenants and PENN Medical Records, replacement of mechanical systems, and a cosmetic renovation to the second floor Simulation Center used to educate physicians and nurses.

Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence
IMC Construction received the American Council of Engineering Companies Pennsylvania Chapter (ACEC/PA) 2011 Diamond Honor Award in the Water Resources Category for the Erdman Center - Penn Medicine at Valley Forge project. Highest Ranked Local Green Contractor by ENR
The U.S. construction industry trade magazine ENR (published by McGraw Hill Construction) has released its survey of the Top Green Contractors. IMC is pleased to be the highest ranked local Green Builder in the Philadelphia area. The ENR list is based on contractors' 2009 revenue from projects registered with, or certified by, third-party ratings groups under objective environmental or sustainable development standards.

IMC Construction is honored to once again be named as a winner of the 7th annual Best Places to Work by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Best Places to Work program ranks the top employers in the Delaware Valley according to scores given to the companies by their own workers.

in the 33-year-old construction company. Mr. Shields, serves as a Contract Manager, has been with the firm 10 years in various capacities. Most recently, Ed is managing the new Vertical Screen corporate office building that is slated to achieve LEED®Platinum certification in Warminster, PA.

»Vertical Screen Groundbreaking
IMC is pleased to announce the recent groundbreaking of the Vertical Screen new World Headquarters in Warminster, PA. The Vertical Screen project redevlops a former Brownfield site once occupied by the Naval Air Warfare Center. The building incorporates numerous green technologies to achieve the LEED certification goal of Platinum.

To achieve LEED Platinum several sustainability features include:
- Close-loop geothermal water source heat pump
- Under Floor Air Distribution (UFAD) system heats and cools from
the ground up - Rainwater harvesting system with a 50,000 gallon underground storage tank that will be used to flush low-flow toilets, irrigate interior green walls and site landscape
- Groundwater infiltration system promotes groundwater recharge through use of rain gardens and flat-bottom infiltration basins

The Central Penn Business Journal has named IMC as a Best Place to Work in PA for a medium sized company. Factors that were taken into consideration included employee benfits, company policies, and an employee survey. The awards program, created in 2000 to recognize the best places to work in PA, is one of the first of its kind in the country offered by a state. The program is a public/private partnership of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Central Penn Business Journal.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses.

» Penn Medicine at Valley Forge Groundbreaking
Chesterbrook, PA.—The University of Pennsylvania Health System and IMC Construction officially kicked off construction of the Penn Medicine’s Henry P. Erdman Center with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Chesterbrook site. Conveniently located on Chesterbrook Boulevard right off Route 202, the Design/Build project consists of 90,000 square feet of clinical and primary care space, an imaging center and outpatient surgical capabilities. The Henry P. Erdman Center is also planned to be a LEED registered project with a certification goal of Silver.

IMC recently completed the national headquarters for The Star Group, one of Philadelphia's most prominent advertising agencies. This contemporary two story corporate space in Voorhees, NJ features custom finishes and unique design.

» IMC Participates in Youth in Construction Safety Day
IMC Construction was please to participate in the first Youth in Construction Safety Day at our Plymouth Meeting Mall job site. Developed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Pennsylvania Senators Stewart Greenleaf, Connie Williams and John Rafferty presented OSHA with State Resolution 278, which official recognizes the day and reinforces the state’s commitment to
youth safety in the construction industry.
After the presentation, students from the Eastern Center of Arts and Technology were led on a hard hat tour by a representative from IMC where many of the local unions conducted interactive safety demonstrations. Students were given the opportunity to try their skills at crane simulator provided by the Ironworkers Local 401. With the summer months right around the corner, many teenage workers will join the construction industry and this event helps them understand the importance of safety.
» IMC Recognized for First Green Building
IMC Construction is proud to be recognized by East Whiteland Township as having the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified green building within the township.
The township’s Board of Supervisors presented IMC’s President, Robert Cottone, with recognition at their township meeting. Also accepting the award was Jim Kerr, IMC’s Sustainability Manager, who spear headed the LEED certification process.
“We are honored to be recognized by the township. We are very proud of our LEED Gold building and we would like to use it as an education tool to teach others about green building”, said President Robert Cottone.
IMC Construction recognizes the importance to building green. Regardless of a project’s intended LEED certification objective, IMC is committed to constructing their projects adhering to sustainable construction ‘best practices.’
